Welcome HPU Parents!
We are Darrell and Nancy Blackwell (Shane ’15) from Charlotte, North Carolina. As second year HPU parents we have quickly realized the importance of embracing our HPU family and supporting the amazing opportunities this community offers. High Point University provides extraordinary academics, small class sizes, world class professors, superior facilities, numerous study abroad opportunities and is ranked nationally in ‘America’s Best Colleges.’
The High Point University Parents Council supports the University’s mission to deliver educational experiences that enlighten, challenge and prepare students to lead lives of significance by providing a holistic education. Dr. Qubein says, “Your present circumstances don’t determine where you go; they merely determine where you start.” The starting line is here at High Point University and this holistic approach teaches students the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of learning. It shows them the significance of relationships and encourages them to form purposeful connections in their communities.
We hope you will join us in the Parents Council. Parents Council members support HPU in a variety of ways:
- Assist admissions through calls to applicants and/or outreach to high school guidance counselors
- Plan and host receptions for prospective and incoming students
- Provide internship and permanent job placement opportunities for students and graduates
- Attend Family Weekend and serve on at least one Parents Council committee
- Support the University with a contribution to the HPU Fund for Extraordinary Education. Gifts of $1,000 or greater entitle you to membership in the President’s Circle (Make a Secure Online Gift)
